Newell Irrigator's senior Rachel Erk has signed to run track and field for Mount Marty today. Coach Dan Fitzsimmons and his wife, the jumping coach, were able to be at Newell School's Austin Auditorium. Rachel is excited to continue her favorite sport in college. She will compete in sprints and long jump for the Mount Marty Lancers. Coach Muckridge, Newell's head track and field coach, has coached her the entire time she has been on the varsity team. Rachel has been to the state track and field championships every year since her 7th grade year. She has already earned many merit and athletic scholarships from Mount Marty. Also attending the signing were her family, Mr. Schoenfish, and Coach Wince.

The Newell track team had a good first meet today in Spearfish. There were over 20 teams and great competition to go up against! A few athletes were able to throw javelin for the first time as well!
The middle School track meet to be held in Spearfish on April 6th has been cancelled.

All participants will leave with a drone that they built and will experience 7 different robotics task as well as the drone camp, and Engineering and Design Challenges. The camp is designed for Grades 3 - 8 and will be hosted in Belle Fourche but all Districts and learners are welcome!
