READBowl is the FREE global reading competition where PreK-12th grade aged teams around the globe compete to read for the most minutes. The competition begins the week before the American College Football National Championship (2nd Monday in January) and culminates with a live crowning of the World Champions of Reading on the morning of the National Football League’s (NFL) Super Bowl Sunday.
Preschool screening coming up! Ages 0-6 are welcome!
The Newell Irrigator Wrestlers hosted their only home meet and celebrated parent’s night too. A big THANK YOU to all the parents and fans. The team greatly appreciated all the support and cheering. Dyson and Bodie both pulled off 1st place in their respective brackets. They had exciting matches where they showed off their skills and knowledge of the sport. Will earned a hard-fought 2nd place, only losing to a ranked senior. He avenged a loss he had earlier to a strong Sundance wrestler. Joe wrestled hard too, but it just wasn’t his night. I love watching this team grow as wrestlers and seeing the progress they are making. Congrats to our wrestlers, parents, fans, and coaches. Regions isn’t that far away. State Wrestling will be in Rapid City. Go Newell!!

It was a great Monday at the Black Hills Stock Show with our chapter and many other area schools! We didn’t get to participate in as many workshops due to the weather but the livestock team got to participate in the livestock judging school and do a behind-the-scenes tour of Rodeo Rapid City!(Mrs. Geppert) Courtesy photo

The Newell Irrigator Wrestlers faced some of the toughest competition they have seen all year. The Belle Fourche wrestling meet had many state ranked qualifiers competing over 2 days. Our athletes put up valiant fights, but only Dyson made it into the placing rounds. There 19 teams total and very large brackets. Dyson used his knowledge and determination to earn 3rd place. Newell should be really proud of the the effort they put forth and the sportsmanship they show on and off the mat. Newell’s only meet is this Tuesday in Austin Auditorium. They would love to see you there.
