NEWELL GBB Potato feed during PTC Oct 22nd 4:30 to 6:30


The Newell boys and girls has a great showing at the State Cross Country Meet in Sioux Falls today. The boys started the day off with their best races of the season and were rewarded with the best finish in boys school history. The team placed 3rd overall and only 2 points away from a State Championship. Runners included Ben Parrow was 11th, Nathaniel Kirby 17th, and Garret Winkler 35th. The girls followed up with a strong effort of their own. They also in is he'd 3rd overall. Lexa Burtzlaff finished 15th, Kayden Steele 21st, Rachel Erk 23rd, Austin Alexander 46th, and Stacy Mahaffy 5th. The two Newell teams scores were also good enough to be the Combined Team State Championship. Great performances and accomplishments all around. Can't ask for a much better way to finish a season.

Congratulation to the Newell Cross Country Team. The girls placed 3rd in the state AND the boys placed 3rd in the state!! Plus they placed 1st in the Combined Team Score. Way to go Irrigators!! There will be a congratulations ceremony Tuesday night between the JV and Varsity Volleyball games.

So so very proud of these girls!! The Newell Irrigator volleyball teams came out on top this weekend winning their brackets in the spearfish tourney. Our season is over with the 8th grades record being 13-3 and 7th graders being 15-2! Congrats to all the other newell teams that won this weekend as well! Go Gators!



The Newell cross country teams ran their region meet in Philip today. Top 20 individuals and top 3 teams get to move onto to state. Every newell runner finished in the top 12.

The Kindergarten class was in Rapid City visiting the Fire Station and Mystic Range Forest Station today. News center 1 KNBN followed their tour and filmed the students. They will likely be on the news tonight and in the morning.

Due to the expected weather conditions for tomorrow Wednesday, October 10th the Region Cross Country Meet has been moved to Friday, October 12th at 11:00 in Philip. Their will only be varsity races, the middle school and JV will not have races. Please come out and support the Newell Irrigators as they run for a chance to compete at the SDHSAA state meet. MS volleyball and football traveled to Harding County tonight to take on the ranchers. Football game got called early due to lightning with Newell coming up short by 2 points. The volleyball teams won both games bringing their records to 7-0 for the 7th graders and 5-0 for the 8th grade team! Good job boys and girls!
