Announcing: Scholarships for your students to study music or attend music camp this summer!

Dear Music Teachers,
Each year, the Black Hills Symphony League awards summer music scholarships to area
students, grades 4-12. The Symphony League encourages young musicians to continue their musical studies
throughout the summer months. Scholarships will be awarded for students to take music lessons over the
summer, attend music camp, summer institutes or music workshops.
The main consideration for these scholarship monies is financial need. Talent and desire to grow musically are
also considered. Documents required for consideration include:
*Statement from the student concerning their summer music education intentions.
*Recommendation from their music teacher.
*Recommendation from one support person (other than parent or guardian) such
as a principal, pastor, or teacher.
Recommendations should support financial need as well as the student’s talent and desire to further their musical
studies. Sample application forms are enclosed. Please duplicate this letter and enclosed forms as needed for
applicants. E-mail submissions are accepted as well. If you would prefer a hard copy of this letter and forms,
please e-mail your request to: oboe@rap.midco.net
Deadline is April 30, 2019! All application materials must be postmarked/posted by
April 30, 2019. Return completed applications to:

Each applicant will be notified whether they have been awarded a scholarship or not. Black Hills Symphony
League will make payment directly to the music teacher, music studio, music camp or institute. All awards must
be used by September 1, 2019. By submitting an application, you are aware that the student’s name may be
published for publicity purposes.
