Jerry Lohr, an SDSU College of Engineering graduate and its namesake, has built an empire of success and gives credit to his start at SDSU. He is continuing his tremendous passion for giving back to his alma mater by developing the Grand Challenges Scholarship Program. This program will support, and in many cases increase, the scholarship amount promised to South Dakota State students through the Jackrabbit Guarantee program.

The Grand Challenges Scholarship is automatically awarded to South Dakota residents upon admission to SDSU in one of our engineering majors (listed below) and no scholarship application is required.  To qualify students must have an ACT composite score of 24 or higher or SAT composite of 1160 or higher. SDSU will honor test scores received until June 1, 2020.

Application information is available in the Newell High School office.
